Practising Islam too soon harmful? - Islamic Movement Of Florida (IMOF)

I'm new to the idea of Islam and have been a "christian" all my life and I wanted to ask about the duties performed in Islam and can't they make a hypocrite out of a sincere person if they are put into practice before a person can fully understand their significance. i would like to learn more about Islam but I'm afriad of joining another group of hypocrites.
